Bodily Injury Liability: Pays for bodily injury and death to others when you are at fault in an accident.

Property Damage Liability: Pays if your vehicle causes damage to another person’s property – a building, a vehicle, a telephone pole, etc.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage : This coverage protects you if you are injured by an uninsured or underinsured driver. (Note: This coverage varies from state to state.)

Comprehensive: Pays damages if you vehicle is stolen or accidentally damaged by such things as fire, broken glass, falling objects or contact with an animal. This coverage is subject to deductibles and coverage limits.

Collision: Pays when your vehicle is damaged by colliding with another vehicle or object. This coverage is subject to deductibles and coverage limits.

First Party Benefits (FPB): A coverage available in no-fault states that provides benefits for medical expenses and other accident-related expenses. It includes medical payments for the insured and their household up to $10,000. (The customer is the party of the first part, the insurance company is the party of the second part, and everyone is a third party. That is why they say the liability portion, BI & PD, is third party liability); Income loss (it pays up to $2500 per month, max $50,000) if you are injured in an auto accident and can’t work; Funeral Benefits pay up to $2500 if a household member is killed in an auto accident. Accidental death provides up to $50,000 if a household resident dies as a result of an auto accident. THere are several options and coverage selections that can be made by the customer. These FPB are considered no fault and are payable if you are in your car or someone else’s car or a pedestrian. The only requirement of the State is $5000 medical pay. These coverages are inexpensive. Guest passenger coverage is a motorcycle coverage only, since the guests own FPB would cover them in an insured’s veh. If they didn’t have a personal auto policy themselves (GRANDMA), then the Insured’s policy would cover them as well.

Additional Coverages Available: Towing, rental reimbursement, additional equipment, medical payments, income disability and guest passenger liability. Ask you agent which additional coverages are available in your state.

Note: These explanations are intended to generally describe the coverages available and should not be construed to modify or expand the terms of you policy. Only those coverages noted on your declarations page apply. Coverages vary by state.
