About Our Company
Our History
In 1938, Gordon H. Matthews owned an insurance agency on the first floor of the Penn Beaver Hotel in Rochester. In about 1961, he moved it to our current location at 180 W. Washington Street. In 1966, the agency was bought by William P. Laughlin and in about 1970 he purchased the Margaret Boston Agency which was located on the 2nd floor of the First National Bank on Midland Avenue in Midland. In 1980, the Midland location and Rochester location were consolidated into the one location in Rochester. On November 1st, 1989, William P. Laughlin II purchased the agency from his father who was retiring and it became incorporated – Laughlin Insurance Agency, Inc.
